Route Description:The Slant route is a quick route intended to pick up a small chunk of yards in critical situations. It is absolutely imperative that the route is run across the defenders face, meaning that the WR has to run inside the defender so that the WR is closer to the ball being thrown from the Quarterback. No more than two or three steps should be taken upfield before the shallow diagonal cut inside.
